Allen Ford, last of alleged racial attackers, gets busted

Allen Ford may not have been ready for his close-up, but he got one anyhow.
Late last month, the Denver Police Department began rounding up more than thirty African-Americans accused of robbing and/or beating men and women because they were either Caucasian or Hispanic.

Now, the last of the at-large suspects -- Allen Ford, 18 -- has been taken into custody; he was busted late yesterday afternoon in East Denver.

MORE CHARGES FILED IN ROBBERY AND ASSAULT CASES

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged 21 more people in connection with a series of robberies and assaults that have taken place in recent months in Denver.

Blake Patton (dob: 01-08-91), Geno West (dob: 07-11-91) and Donald Thomas (dob: 12-03-86) are charged with first-degree assault (F3) robbery (F4) and bias motivated crime (F4) in connection with an assault and robbery that took place on August 11, 2009 at 13th Avenue and Pearl Street. The victim was transported to Denver Health Medical Center where he was in a coma for a period of time.

Ian Curwen (dob: 01-04-78) and Xavier Francis (dob: 01-19-89) are charged with robbery (F4) and bias motivated crime (F4) in connection with an incident on July 18, 2009 at 1810 Blake Street. The charges allege that the defendants attacked the victim and stole an undisclosed amount of money, a credit card and a cell phone.

Xavier Francis (dob: 01-19-89) and George Wright (dob: 07-30-89) are charged with second-degree assault (F4) and two counts of bias motivated crime (F4) in connection with an assault that took place at 1401 19th Street on August 2, 2009. The charges allege that Francis and Wright attacked victim and threw him through a glass window.

Ian Curwen (dob: 01-04-78), Xavier Francis (dob: 01-19-89), Anthony Williams-Jones (dob: 02-21-91), Torrence McCall (dob:10-27-83), and Blake Patton (dob:01-08-91) are charged with robbery (F4) and three counts of bias motivated crime (F4) in connection with an assault and robbery that took place at 1701 Market Street on August 16, 2009. The charges allege that the defendants attacked a man and then took his credit card. Williams is also charged with possession of a financial transaction device (F6).

David Littlejohn (dob: 09-11-91), Rasheed Turner (dob: 01-06-88), Xavier Francis (dob: 01-19-89), Charles Penny (dob: 02-15-90), Landae Woods-King (dob: 10-31-88), Aaron Puller (dob: 01-24-88), Blake Patton (dob: 01-08-91), Donald Thomas (dob:12-03-86), and Stephon Allison-Smith (dob: 01-20-89) are charged with second-degree assault (F4), robbery (F4) and bias motivated crime (F4) in connection with a robbery that took place at 1625 Larimer Street on August 23, 2009. The charges allege that the defendants attacked the victim and stole a credit card. Penny is also charged with possession of a financial transaction device (F6). Allison-Smith is also charged with intimidating a witness in a separate case.

Deven Cunningham (dob: 01-18-89), Denita Mayfield (dob: 01-16-86) and Bertrande Uhde (dob: 12-31-88) are charged with attempted robbery (F5) and bias motivated crime (F4) in connection with an attack that took place on August 30, 2009 at 19th Street and Blake Street. The charges allege that the defendants attacked the victim while trying to rob him.

Sherman James (dob: 03-17-83) and Merkel Jones (dob: 12-21-86) are charged with robbery (F4) and third degree assault (M1) in connection with an attack on November 18, 2009 at 16th Street and Stout Street.

These defendants are scheduled to appear in Denver District Courtroom 14 on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 1:30 for advisement.

One suspect, Allen Ford, (dob: 09-13-91) remains at large.

In addition to these charges, six juveniles have been charged as juveniles in connection with this series of crimes.

The nine defendants charged yesterday all appeared in Denver District Court today. They are now scheduled for a preliminary hearing on December 23, 2009 at 8:30 in Denver District Courtroom 14.
