Unnamed author tried to steal his own book in Boulder. Let the baseless speculation begin!

Gawker spotted this amusing nugget in a story in the New York Times Book Review on Sunday:

At Boulder Book Store in Boulder, Colo., one writer was even busted stealing his own books. Christopher Ohman, who was a manager at the time, said: "I think he felt somewhat entitled to the copies. In some ways I can kind of understand that logic. I mean, it's a commonly held misconception that authors get as many copies of their books as they want, and that's not always the case." (Ohman conceded that the author's alcohol problem may also have had something to do with it.)

Gawker's readers have the late Hunter S. Thompson as the early fave, although there's nothing in the anecdote that indicates it was a local author. All we know is that the author was a drunk. Alas, the the options are endless, and we'll never know the answer. So why not throw some shit at the wall, eh?
