Are Denver cops auditioning for Crank Yankers?: DPD officers allegedly make prank call about suicide scare

Wonder if that cop was named Seymour Butz...
Colorado's become Hoax Central lately thanks to the bizarre case involving a certain Balloon Boy. But the latest alleged pranksters are hardly Richard Heene clones. Rather, they're members of the Denver Police Department.

As first reported by Channel 4, two officers assigned to District 6, called the Parker Police Department to report that a fellow Denver cop who lives in Parker and had called in sick was suicidal.

Except he wasn't.

The Parker police hurried to the scene, where they quickly determined that the resident wasn't exactly pointing a gun into his mouth. Shortly thereafter, the two Denver cops reportedly admitted that the whole thing was a gag.

Parker public information officer Sergeant Doreen Jokerst -- yes, that's her real name -- isn't laughing. "We have an active criminal investigation underway concerning false reporting," she says. "We conferred with the Douglas County district attorney, and hopefully we'll have a disposition later on this week," with the possibilities including criminal charges against those hilarious boys in blue from Denver.

Who may be learning something new about suicide. Career suicide, that is.
