David Dolan, Colorado State Patrol officer, arrested for investigation of driving drunk in squad car

• Are you kidding me? This isn't some ordinary citizen that may have had too many...this is a law enforcement officer that put on a gun and a badge and got in his gov't provided car while drunk. He claims PTSD and says "he always tried to get some sleep when he used alcohol to sleep" but really...how many times has he shown up in uniform drunk before? How many people has he pulled over while intoxicated and wearing a gun and badge? What happens and what do you do if you get pulled over by an on duty drunk officer? You can't call for help because he won't let you be on the phone while he's "detaining" you which is what being pulled over is. You aren't allowed to leave until drunk boy lets you and he's got a freakin' gun! We as citizens are just lucky that someone noticed him driving eradically and called him in for the police to deal with because god help the poor soul who got pulled over by a drunk cop on duty with a gun and badge. This situation would have all been washed under the rug if it wasn't caught on tape. This is CO and we have open carry gun laws and I support them but if I get 'faced and decide it would be a good idea to take my gun and go out in public then I become a danger to the public...but when a cop puts on his gun and badge while intoxicated and then gets in his cruiser and goes on patrol they are a much greater danger to the public and should be punished more severely because they are supposedly the example to follow. He only serves 10 days in jail? If your average citizen did the same thing without the badge and just took their gun and went driving while intoxicated they would be looking at 1-2 YEARS not 10 days.

• But one must know the ruling of fashion and what is in. Picking any product bluntly will drop down the person's personality and status.

• Glad I can grow prozac in my backyard or adderall(prescription meth) Too bad marijuana has to be created in a chemist lab and have "subjects" test it to see if the man made chemical will kill them or go crazy. Yep, ill stay away from growing prozac or vicodins in my back yard. it just seems so scary. A seed, in the earth, that grows into a plant and has all the pretty colorful pills for me to pick off and swallow and shut down my kidneys. Dang plant. I should drink natural beer that flows out of waterfalls with my wonderfully grown prozac bush. All that "naturalness" will make me feel great. Right? I wonder if I should stop eating tomatoes? You know I hear things grown from the earth are just terrible for us. Stay away from water, dirt, and plant growth. It will kill you. We should make water illegal since it can grow plants on the earth. Oh wait, lets make the earths soil illegal also while were at it. Whoever created the marijuana seed should be put in jail. Whoever created "meth in a pill" should be praised. Right? Cause I love the fact that my 12 year old nephew is a tweeker and has to take organically grown adderall. Lets do this america! JUST SAY NO to seeds, dirt and water! Its a terrible combo which allows a plant to grow. Dumb dumbs.

• Driving DUI is unacceptable from anyone anytime any where. Before we hang a person out to dry...we should walk a mile in his shoes. (Not excusing driving under the influence). He is innocent until proven guilty�just like the rest of the folks that have been charged for a traffic offence. Job related stress does strange things to normal people in high stress jobs. (Emergency Services) I know for a fact if this man was wearing the Colorado State Trooper uniform and has served twenty one years on the patrol, he has to be an exceptional person, Dave has been there for several people injured in crashes, broken down beside the road, changed tires for folks that can't, and cleaning up crash scenes that are just unbelievable to the regular person driving by, and has responded to the very things that most people run from. "I take my hat off to you Dave, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE". This should be an eye opener for supervisors...watch for the signs of stress in your people that is providing emergency services. Critical stress debriefing was long over due for these folks. Help them before this type of thing catches up with them. GOOD LUCK Dave, pick up the pieces and move on to the next chapter of your life.

• Anonymous, Correction...my friend "ALCOHOL IS INTOXICATING ALL THE TIME"! Marijuana is a MEDICINE and not intoxicating;if used as prescripted. Alcohol is responsible for more deaths in the U.S. than any other substance known to man-kind! "RJM"

• Its interesting to note that CNN has not picked this story up. It is very scary. I am not afraid of foreign jihadists, I refuse to be. But I am TERRIFIED by the thought of an intoxicated, armed policeman, in a squad car here in the USA

• David, Well...My friend,perhaps marijuana is going to "OUTLAW"(I don't know what you mean by "OUTLOAW";but I assume that the ALCOHOL has put a damper on your spelling skills. However,if the CPS officer was smoking marijuana instead of drinking alcohol;he wouldn't have done such an IDIOTIC thing like driving erratically! Alcohol impairs good judgement where as marijuana does not! "RJM

• Any excuse for the drug users to bring up marijuana...note; alcohol is a beverage and can be used as such and not be intoxicating all the time...marijuana; only use is intoxicating.

• Legalizing marijuana is not going to outloaw alcohol my friend. You have a gaping hole in your logic.

• Westword, Pehaps if this COLORADO STATE PATROL OFFICER was using MARIJUANA instead of ALCOHOL;we wouldn't have heard of this! The dangers of alcohol are clear;where as the danger of marijuana and/or cannabis are INSIGNIFICANT!!! "RJM"
