Last week, Westword's Melanie Asmar reported that lawyers for Willie Clark, who was convicted last month of killing former Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams, had asked for a new trial based on alleged irregularities.

Among the charges contained in motion (read it by clicking here): Jurors discussed whether Clark was guilty before the trial was over.

This argument didn't sway Denver District Judge Christina Habas, who yesterday rejected the request.

According to Habas, Clark's attorneys didn't present enough fresh evidence to justify a new trial. That means Clark's Friday sentencing should move forward as scheduled.
