MAN CHARGED WITH MURDERING HIS MOTHER

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged a man accused of killing his mother earlier in May.

Michael Ciacio (dob: 09-13-62) was charged last Thursday with first-degree murder (F1).

On May 5, 2010, the Denver Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Tamarac Street on a report of assault. Upon arrival, the officers found the body of 84-year-old Charlene Ciacio. The charge alleges that Ciacio shot and killed his mother.

Ciacio is currently being held without bond in the Denver detention center. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 23, 2010 at 9 a.m. in courtroom 3C (at the new Courthouse).
