Sex Offender Management Board rules changed for one offender... and one program

• Sex Offender "Treatment" Programs are nothing but a scam and the only people they help are the ones who make money from them. My domestic partner was followed into a public men's room by a cop who arrested him and claimed he exposed himself. He took a plea deal and now he has to sit in one of those "programs" and pretend to be guilty of something he didn't do and try to show "progress" in overcoming a problem he doesn't have. He can't tell the truth about what happened because he would be declared in violation of his probation for "denying" his crime and sent to jail. I wonder how many other innocent people have been victimized by this corrupt enterprise.

• Everyone Is suppose to have freedom of choice. It is there constitutional right. Yet time and again, legislation has taken these rights away from offenders on the registry. There should be a choice in therapy, not just one program fits all sizes. Sounds to me like this is a "special interest" program that they want to put through. One day it will be one of your loved ones that is posted on some registry, and you will wonder, "How could this happen", "What happened to our rights?" These bills are for political and person gain. One size does not fit all. This sounds like a personal interest ploy. Money, it cost money to go to therapist, and if one pays they should decide where they go. These types of bills, laws are putting citizens in a pressure cooker, and then what?

• Other states in the union allow offenders choice without the sky flling, so what makes Colorado so special? Special Interest. That's it in a nutshell. There is NO evidence based facts to back up opposition to this bill, but there is PLENTY of evidence this is a "special interest" scam. It's Nazi Germany stuff. Plain and simple. Each and everyone of us is just one accusation away from being a sex offender - beware one day there will be no one left to speak up for YOU.

• This bill is a desperately needed beginning. Anyone who hasn't been even peripherally involved with a bad or abusive sex offender therapist has no idea and can't even comment with any validity. Of course there are good ones, but the system itself leads to the attraction of those of a sadistic bent--virtually unlimited power and control over people's lives. And even though no one will admit it, some of the "offenders" are innocent, but as long as they insist on their innocence to their therapist, they are scorned and ridiculed as lying and evading facing up to their actions. If they have any hope of successfully going on with the program and making it through probation or parole, they must admit guilt to something they didn't do. And then if the lie detector shows they are lying about being guilty, they are accused of trying to manipulate the test and in even more trouble. Any attempt to explain leads to accusations of having "thinking errors." The offenders pay a fee every time they go, and they must go as often and for as long as the therapist dictates. Can anyone spell cash cow? If ever anything needed reform and choices, this is it.
