• Chris hits all the usual tancredo talking points. The opposition is un-informed, we play the race card, and the illegals are costing us billions. At least he/she didn't claim 20 or 30 million criminal illegals are hiding in the US. Chris also said lets solve the border problem then talk about amnesty. I agree. But thats as far as I'll go with Chris. The AZ law stinks and needs to be flushed along with the repub howlers who passed this sham. Governor Brewer has been in the sun too long literally and figuratively.

• Really? They are a drain to our prison system? How exactly does cracking down on them make them less of a burden to the prison system? BTW...a vast majority of illegal immigrants are here to either work for money or work and be with family. They are not coming here for our spotty healthcare, or to enroll their children in our failing inner city public schools. They are coming here to MAKE MONEY. And they are able to make money because our free market demands their services. And as long as the market demands their labor, they will come. Just consider their presence a sign of (or price you pay for...depending on your view...) a strong economy. It baffles me when conservative pundits rail against "government interference in the free market"...as in any government regulation. But when it comes to the free market's relationship with the undocumented portion of the labor force, conservatives whine and plead for the government to step in and excise this chunk of our labor force. And you don't think that will have a negative impact on our economy? That's why conservatives only talk tough on immigration during election season, because they can get some people riled up over it. We're not just talking about immigrants carrying papers. We're talking about the impossibility of enforcing a law that requires people to PROVE that they are Americans. I was born here, I don't walk around with a fucking birth certificate to prove that I am an American, because it is unconstitutional to require it. I know a lot of US citizens who have accents from other countries. They have and deserve the same rights as me. This AZ law is too grey, it's unconstitutional, and it depends too much on profiling to accomplish what it implies it will accomplish. It's just a fucking political stunt meant to rally voters who feel threatened and find it easy to blame foreigners for their insecurity. It's going to cost a lot of money, and not accomplish much, and may even have a negative effect on the AZ economy. IF they decide to enforce it.

• Federal law requires immigrants and foreign nationals to carry registration papers-look it up, it's law. Since you're obviously against that, start railing on the federal statutes too. Why would anyone think it would be a positive to the economy? Gee, I don't know....based on the drain of social services, education, hospitals/health care, prison systems......you would have to be completely clueless and ignorant to think it WOULDN"T.

• @Chris, you are the only one who mentioned "social justice", though that would be a good point to consider. And Federal law DOES NOT require people to walk around with proof of citizenship, and the AZ law WOULD HAVE NO WAY OF BEING ENFORCED without "profiling" and walking around with "proof" of citizenship. How much fucking money should taxpayers be expected to spend to chase out "boogey-man" immigrants, and why would anyone believe that that would be a positive to our economy? • Wyrob- Spare me the shrieking "social justice" talking points bullshit. You apparently are so uninformed that you don't even realize that federal law already requires it! There aren't 2 separate "sets of rights".....there is one for citizens. Most people in this country want the border secured; the federal government hasn't and won't do it, both parties. After the border is secured, then we can discuss amnesty, guest workers, etc. Most sensible people agree; it's morons like you who have no other argument to support open borders (reconquista?) that try to make this about racism, profiling, etc. South Africa apartheid? • @GiGi, What exactly do you think we are "losing" our country to? the shackles of our Constitution??? The AZ law is unenforceable because it is unconstitutional. We are not required to carry cards proving that we are citizens of the US. Saying that SOME citizens must carry these cards (ie: dark hair & tan and/or accent...) is saying that all US citizens ARE NOT created equal. That would be UN-AMERICAN and goes AGAINST the principals that this great nation was founded on. GiGi and Chris, if a nation with 2 separate sets of rights for 2 separate sets of citizens is what YOU want...then move your ass to 1980's South Africa.

• Frankly, the issue is too serious to poke fun. We are losing our country and we have people in Washington not willing to do a darn thing about the invasion. Now, we have Denver newspapers making fun out of the Bill. It's not funny. Look like AZ seems to be taking the ball and running with it. Where are the people with guts in Colorado to do the same. I doubt if there are any.
