Jim Hightower headlines rally to clean up Colorado campaigns

"Politics isn't about left versus right," says Jim Hightower. "It's about top versus bottom."

The populist progressive will give the bottom line on cleaning up political campaigns tonight at the Hightower Lowdown Hoedown.

The rally runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Stapleton Central Park Festival area, 9001 Martin Luther King Boulevard -- a last second venue change. But then, it's sponsored by Be the Change, as well as Clean Campaigns Colorado, which is pushing Initiative 53.

The rally lineup includes emcee Matt Bergles and state senator Polly Baca, with music by Kenny Perkins and the Nightshift. I'll be there to introduce Hightower, a former Texas agriculture commissioner turned columnist. And as he says:

"The middle of the road is for yellow lines and dead armadillos."
