Charles Fisher, No. 10: Thornton man accused of shooting wife Belinda, setting house ablaze

The communities north of Denver have seen more than their fair share of homicides lately. Sean and Staci Griffin, murdered in a Boulder flooring store. Superior's Stephanie Rochester, charged in the killing of her infant son. Boulderite Thomas Holloway, eyed in the shooting of his elderly stepfather.

And now Thorton's Charles Fisher, suspected of gunning down his wife and then setting their house on fire to cover his tracks.

The incident took place on the evening of July 3, with the Thornton Police Department making public the name of the victim, Belinda Fisher, and her husband the following day. Look below to read that release, as well as to watch Channel 31 coverage of the crime:

Homicide Investigation

On 07-03-10, at approximately 7:37 pm, the Thornton Fire Department was dispatched to 11339 Locust Street, in reference to a structure fire at that location. Thornton Fire Department extinguished the fire and discovered a deceased female inside the home. The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature. The residence sustained substantial smoke damage. The cause of the fire is pending further investigation by the Thornton Fire Department and Police Department.

Upon further investigation the victim was discovered to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. The victim's official cause and manner of death is pending an autopsy report by the Adams County Coroner's Office.

The Thornton Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the investigation. Arrested for investigation of 1ST Degree Murder, 1ST Degree Arson, and Domestic Violence was:

The arrestee is the husband of the victim. No motive for the incident has been established at this time.

Charles Fisher was transported to the Adams County Detention Facility, and being held without bond.
