Lone Tree wants Western Conservative Summit to leave it alone

"It's a great day to be in Lone Tree!," promises that small suburb's web site. But yesterday wasn't such a great day for Lone Tree officials, who discovered in this Denver Post story that John Andrews had named the guiding manifesto for this weekend's Western Conservative summit the "Lone Tree Declaration" -- even though the gathering is technically in Littleton at the Marriott Denver South.

Those unhappy officials quickly released their own manifesto, noting that the town is not connected with the confab:

City of Lone Tree Not Affiliated with "Lone Tree Declaration"

Lone Tree, Colorado - In the July 8, 2010 edition of the Denver Post, there is a story titled "Summit takes aim at Obama" on page 1B. The article announces the Centennial Institute sponsored Western Conservative Summit during which a "Lone Tree Declaration" will be considered.

The City of Lone Tree wishes to clarify that as a non-partisan municipality, the City is not involved in the Summit or the Declaration. The City has asked the Summit organizers to re-title the Declaration to remove any confusion or inference of municipal involvement.

For the record, here's the official word about the City of Lone Tree, from Lone Tree. Note: It contains no reference to conservatives or trees:

The City of Lone Tree, incorporated in 1995, is home to almost 11,000 residents. Located south of Denver, Lone Tree has become a point of interest for exceptional shopping, cultural arts, top-rated schools and excellent recreational activities. The City of Lone Tree's convenient location, with easy access to I-25, C-470 and the RTD light rail system, makes commuting for business or leisure comfortable, while 39 million square feet of office space brings great employment opportunity to the area.
