Woman shot dead after possible ambush on East 36th Avenue (No. 13)
Update below: As the temperatures have heated up, so has metro-area violence. In recent days, Montae Davis died after a shooting near Fairfax Liquors and Cesar Reyes was arrested for an Aurora triple shooting over the weekend.

The latest homicide: A possible ambush shooting on East 36th Avenue that wounded one man and left a young woman dead.
Denver Police Department spokesman Sonny Jackson provides the basics:
"About 10:15 p.m. last night, a male and a female were sitting on the porch at 1824 E. 36th Avenue when a group of two to three males came out of the alleyway and started shooting at them," Jackson says. "The male party ran after suffering a gunshot wound in the leg and called police right away. He returned after police got there."
As for his companion, the woman, in her early twenties, "was pronounced dead at the scene," Jackson adds.
DPD is keeping the rest of the facts quiet.
"At this point in time, the homicide unit is investigating, and no suspect information is being released," he says.
Were the couple on the porch targeted by the group? "They did come directly at them," Jackson acknowledges, "but we don't want to assume anything at this point. We're being very open-minded, as we always are. We're going to let the investigation play out."
