Denver Police Department takes a beating with excessive force reports
The Denver Police Department has made LoDo safe from the Let Out crowds, as Alan Prendergast's cover story this week details.
The big question now: Who'll keep the Let Out crowds safe from the Denver police?
The Denver Police Department has been taking a beating this week, with three recent reports of excessive use of force.
The April 2009 beating of Michael DeHerrera -- and the video that captured Denver cops in the act, before the camera shifted -- has gone national since the Office of the Independent Monitor released its report on Monday.
Yesterday, Prendergast revealed that the same night as the DeHerrera incident, Michael Watkins was the subject of another alleged assault by a cop -- and the city quietly settled with Watkins last week.
Today, the Denver Post has a story about a third example of excessive force this past March, when Mark Ashford was allegedly manhandled by cops after he went to the aid of a driver stopped by cops.
Be careful out there.
