FasTracks: Webcast this morning of DIA groundbreaking (and possible Anubis attack)

It's hard not to be excited about the 10:30 a.m. groundbreaking today of the FasTracks East Corridor rail line at DIA. After all, that means in a few short years folks will be riding the rails from Union Station to the airport, and passing through fantastic creations by Calatrava along the way. RTD's live feed of the groundbreaking will capture shovels hitting the dirt not far from DIA's demonic blue mustang -- and at the very spot Anubis the Death God recently stood!

Somebody better have the Ghostbusters on speed dial.

Kevin Flynn, RTD's new public information manager for the East Corridor and the rest of FasTrack's Eagle P3 project, a public-private partnership that will also tackle building rail lines to Arvada, Wheat Ridge and Westminster, promises the groundbreaking today won't just be all stuffy suits and canned speeches. Flynn's the sort of creative transit geek who may be able to pull that off. As the guy behind the über-detailed local transit blog Kevin Flynn's Inside Lane, he lives for making transportation issues relevant.

Whether or not you tune in, take solace in the fact that in the not-so-distant future, you'll be able to cruise straight from downtown to the main terminal Old World style, bypassing all those highways and parking lots.

That is, unless Anubis and the demon mustang unleash hell first.
