Fort Collins riot: 7 more charged in Old Town's NewWestFest melee, none from CSU

The plentiful video footage shot at the Fort Collins riot early on August 22 continues to lead to arrests -- but not of Colorado State University students. Last week, the Fort Collins Police Department announced charges against seven people, only one of whom was a CSU student. Now, the FCPD has made public the arrests of another seven, and none of them have known CSU links. Look below to see the latest names and allegations.

The following additional seven people have been cited for their involvement in the disturbance that occurred August 22 in the Old Town area bringing the total cited to-date to fourteen. None of the additional people cited are known to be students.

● Austin Allen Oakes, 23 years of age (D.O.B. 3/12/87) of Fort Collins cited for Obstructing a police officer (Class 2 Misdemeanor) and Resisting arrest (Class 2 Misdemeanor).

● Corey M. Simpson, 21 years of age (D.O.B. 8/4/89) of Fort Collins cited for Engaging in a riot (Class 3 Misdemeanor) and Disobedience of public safety orders under riot conditions (Class 3 Misdemeanor).

● Jessica Marie Units, 24 years of age (D.O.B. 10/18/85) of Fort Collins cited for Engaging in a riot (Class 3 Misdemeanor), Disobedience of public safety orders under riot conditions (Class 3 Misdemeanor), and Obstructing a police officer (Class 2 Misdemeanor).

● Ryan Richard Poole, 30 years of age (D.O.B. 2/29/80) of Fort Collins cited for Engaging in a riot (Class 3 Misdemeanor) and Disobedience of public safety orders under riot conditions (Class 3 misdemeanor).

● Amanda Kay Brooksmith, 23 years of age (D.O.B. 5/4/87) of Fort Collins cited for Engaging in a riot (Class 3 Misdemeanor) and Disobedience of public safety orders under riot conditions (Class 3 Misdemeanor).

● Dustin Ryan Larson, 24 years of age (D.O.B. 10/1/85) of Fort Collins cited for Disobedience of public safety orders under riot conditions (Class 3 Misdemeanor).

● Cole Richard Livingston, 20 years of age (D.O.B. 11/16/89) of
Fort Collins cited for Disorderly conduct (Petty Offense) and Resisting arrest (Class 2 Misdemeanor).

The previous citation for CSU student Landon Eugene Eskew listed in the August 26, 2010 press release, has been revised to Engaging in a riot, (Class 3 Misdemeanor) and Disobedience of public safety orders under riot conditions (Class 3 Misdemeanor).

Fort Collins police are continuing to work to identify other potential participants.

Names of Persons Cited in Weekend Disturbance Released

The following seven persons have been cited in the disturbance that occurred over the weekend that is estimated to have caused approximately $12,000 in property damage. While citations have been issued to the following people, officers continue to investigate the disturbance and may determine additional charges are appropriate against these individuals.

● Michael Ray Harrison, 28 years of age (DOB 10/10/1981) of Fort Collins, CO charged with resisting arrest (Class 2 Misdemeanor) and disorderly conduct (Petty Offense)

● Jeffery Lane Cooper, 45 years of age (DOB 9/12/1964) of Fort Collins, CO charged with disorderly conduct (Petty Offense)

● Lucas Matthew Crider, 21 years of age (DOB 8/28/1988) of Eaton, CO charged with trespass (Petty Offense) and disorderly conduct (Petty Offense)

● Landon Eugene Eskew, 21 years of age (DOB 2/01/1989) of Fort Morgan, CO charged with obstructing a peace officer (Class 2 Misdemeanor)

● Sean L. Nider, 21 years of age (DOB 5/26/1989) of Windsor, CO charged with trespass (Petty Offense) and disorderly conduct (Petty Offense)

● Shane Alan Walter, 22 years of age (DOB 9/2/1987) of Greeley, CO charged with obstructing a peace officer (Class 2 Misdemeanor)

● Terry Lee Washington Jr., 25 years of age (DOB 12/18/1984) of Fort Collins, CO charged with disobeying a public safety order (Class 3 Misdemeanor)

Only one of the above offenders (Landon Eugene Eskew) has been identified as a CSU student.

Charges are pending against nine additional participants and investigating officers are continuing to work through contacts, Colorado State University and other sources to identify at least six other participants.
