Macing and mayhem video from Fort Collins' NewWestFest: "Riot! Riot! F**k it up!"

• Greetings! It seems to me that Fort Collins Police had every right to arrest the people who were jumping on their cop cars. I mean, what kind of fool does a thing like that? As for firing tear-gas into a crowd of people who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time..... my friends that is how the next great revolution is going to break out.... With the *pop* of a tear-gas grenade. When I moved to Fort Collins I was truly impressed with the beauty of the surrounding area and the majesty of the mountains. But I quickly took notice of the gestapo-like approach which some of the Police Officers take when dealing with any citizen under 50 years of age. While some people, who mainly drive the latest Lexus would probably beg to differ ( that's ALL they will ever have to beg for ) I must say I am sorely disappointed with the over-zealous nature of the Fort Collins Police Dept. Looks like they saw an opportunity for a "riot-situation" training exercise.... and that's as simple as that. Beating up on a bunch of rich white-boys who were hollering "F*** the Police!" ( a rap song by Ice T. ) Is about the most pussified thing I've seen yet since I've been here. Calling it a "riot" after the fact is just scary. Scary because of the amount of control the cops have over the media here in FOCO. They can twist and manipulate any situation into another which suits their ends more squarely. • My daughter was down there getting a sandwich and got blocked from leaving - by the police. Now they have issued a Summons for her claiming that she is on video - although it is not her. False accusations will now cost her attorney fees to prove she was not involved. FC Police Dept. is overstaffed. They create situations for job security. Aren't THEY supposed to be The Adults?

• Paul, I'm the guy who yelled "fuck it up", and yes, I was being mocking. The "riot" consisted of drunk idiots pretending to be tough by singing "fuck tha police" and putting their middle fingers up and jumping on cop cars while their friends took pictures. A few of them were stupid enough to go right up to the police line and they got maced. The amount of tear gas that was used was small... just enough to keep people backing up and eventually dispersing. From what I saw the cops showed a lot of restraint.

• none of these videos do justice. what i experienced was a riot with debris being thrown at officers. officers shot pepper balls into the crowd several occasions. windows of cop cars being broken out. fights breaking out leading to hospital visits. it was definitely a exciting environment. and the concert had ended hours before this happened. this started all with a bar fight, i don't know why everyone is saying otherwise

• AND AS FOR THE "MAN YELLS"..riot riot etc..c'mon he's almost saying it loud enough for himself to hear and the way he says it is more in a mocking way than anything inciteful.. why do these reports get so blown out of proportion?? its kinda pussy

• You really could redefine this article as JUST A bunch of drunk/stoned music fans leave concert and one or two cause problems...one man jumping on a police car and some idiot setting a tent on fire is more an act of stupidity..believe me I have been a real riot (violent)...this a nothing more than a drunk gathering with over zealous police
