Carmelo Anthony trade: Nets deal dead? 76ers' Andre Iguodala targeted? Other Nugs available?

There are some reports that a potential four-way trade involving the New Jersey Nets is all but dead. But if so, there are plenty of other possibilities to fill that vacuum.

RealGM.com quotes an NBA source as saying a trade that would have sent Melo to New Jersey, with the Nuggets receiving Nets rookie Derrick Favors and Utah Jazz veteran Andrei Kirilenko in exchange, is likely doomed if Anthony shows up at media day -- which he's expected to do.

The post also identifies Nuggets interest in the Philadelphia 76ers' Andre Iguodala -- we reported about that on September 16 -- and Golden State's Stephen Curry. Back on September 15, we noted that Golden State was a dark horse in the Melo trade talks, with the likeliest bait at that time being Monta Ellis.

Meanwhile, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports suggests that every member of the Nuggets lineup is available for potential trade with the exceptions of Chauncey Billups (on August 30, Chauncey was said to be available for a Houston-Charlotte-Denver three-way swap) and Ty Lawson (identified as trade bait on the eve of June's NBA draft).

This frenzy of activity may seem like panic to some, but it's actually a sign that the Nuggets brass, including new vice president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri, is resolved to get reasonable compensation for the loss of their superstar, unlike Cleveland and Toronto in regard to the departures of LeBron James and Chris Bosh. And the crazier the situation becomes, the more likely that a bidding war will benefit Denver.
