Joel Ledermann charged with 4th-degree arson in Reservoir Road fire near Loveland

• The one element that you leave out P, is that the volunteer firefighter also had more training than the typical Joe Blow. He should have had the ability to put the fire in the pit out completely. I mean, i've had some training about fires, and know that a fire pit even with tons of water can have embers. The man went back to check on it once, and put more water on it, but why did he not ensure it was put out on the first day? The fire-starter still failed to control the fire. In either case, I don't think that either man was maliciously trying to do harm. Nor do I think that either man needs to sit in our prison system for their actions. In fact I think that is the WORST outcome in both cases as both men would be better off continuing to contribute to society, and to work to pay off the damages caused by their actions. In both cases, I think a simple task of burning unwanted debris, lead to the destruction of homes and property. People make mistakes.

• Pull your head out J. The 4-mile started from 3-day old cinders of a permitted pit fire that had been doused with water. No one was around when the cinders caught adjacent grass. Reservoir road was caused by an unpermitted fire to burn brush, and said brush wasn't contained in a pit. The firestarter failed to control it. It's called satisfying the elements of a crime and not wasting taxpayer dollars when you can't prove those elements.

• Selective prosecution much? I wonder if the fact that the culprit in the 4 Mile fire was a volunteer firefighter had anything to do with him avoiding any charges? I guess the thin red line is strong in these parts.
