Yesterday, we told you about the arrest of Joseph Owen Coy on racially motivated crime charges involving Nigeria-born CU student Olubiyi Ogundipe near Boulder's Hookah House. Now the Boulder Police Department has tracked down Coy's two companions that evening, and the city manager has released a statement decrying the crime as a scar on the city's tolerant image. See it below:

Police identify two men in bias-motivated assault; city manager condemns attack

Boulder police have identified the two remaining men in the bias-motivated assault that occurred at 2:28 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Broadway and Pleasant Street. Detectives have spoken to both men and are conducting line-ups and additional investigation before deciding whether charges will be filed against them. No names will be released unless the men are arrested.

One suspect, Joseph Owen Coy, 22, of Lafayette, was taken into custody shortly after the crime. Coy booked into the Boulder County Jail on charges of bias-motivated crime, which is a felony, and obstruction.

"On behalf of the City of Boulder, I'm pleased that the police investigation into this crime is moving forward," said Boulder City Manager Jane S. Brautigam. "Our community values inclusiveness and diversity and welcomes people of all races, ethnicities and backgrounds. The bias-motivated violence alleged in this attack is completely unacceptable."
