Katrina Camp affidavit: Allegedly drunk mom who left nude toddler in truck says, "OK, I suck"

Katrina Camp took her dog on a walk on Saturday evening. If only she hadn't allegedly left her two-year-old daughter naked, asleep and alone in her truck when she took off for this stroll. But the Boulder County Sheriff's Office says she did, leading to an arrest on suspicion of child abuse. Camp's take? According to the arrest report, she told an officer, "OK, I suck."

BCSO spokesman Commander Rick Brough provides an overview.

"On Saturday night, some Forest Service people were doing a check in the Haul Road area -- that's a little south of Nederland," Brough says. "They came across a truck parked in the road with its door open and the keys were in it. They couldn't find anybody around it, but when they checked further, they found a two-year-old girl sleeping in the back. She was in a blanket, but she didn't have any clothes on."

At that point, Brough continues, the Forest Service employees got in touch with the sheriff's office -- and before long, the responding deputies located Camp. "She was walking her dog and she showed signs of intoxication," he notes.

That makes sense given that the Katrina Camp arrest report lists the truck as containing an "empty 750 ml bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum."

According to the report, Camp told a deputy that she and her daughter had been "camping" where the truck was parked, but she'd decided she "had to get away," so she went on a hike. She also said the bottle had been three-quarters full when she'd started working on it. Then, after Camp was Mirandized, the deputy asked if she had a statement to make. She allegedly replied, "It's OK, I suck."

The document's narrative shifts a number of times. On one occasion, Camp allegedly said her husband, Jason, was supposed to be watching their little girl. On another, she asserted that she'd left with her daughter and two dogs and went "driving around' to look at the leaves along Highway 72 and to look for bears." She also maintained that she was close enough to hear her daughter during her meander, so the girl was never at risk.

One more thing: Camp told an officer that she'd never endanger a child, since she ran the nursery at Rally Fitness Club in Boulder.
