Man found shot on 900 block of S. Dearborn Way in Aurora dies, inquiry ongoing (No. 22)

More fatal violence in Aurora. Just days after the arrest of Michael Wade Jackson in the death of Mohamed Abushahma comes word of another shooting last night, with a thus-far-unnamed man found near a condo complex later succumbing to his wounds. Police Investigate Fatal Shooting

Aurora, Colo. -- Last night, shortly before 10 p.m., Patrol Officers were dispatched on a report of shots fired in the area of a condominium complex located in the 900 block S. Dawson Way.

Responding officers arrived in the area and found an adult male in the 900 block of S. Dearborn Way who had been shot. The injured man was found outside a multi-family condominium building located within the complex. The man was transported from the scene to a local hospital where he succumbed to his life-threatening injuries.

After assisting fire/rescue with the injured man, officers worked to secure the crime scene, locate witnesses, and search for evidence.

Detectives from the Major Crime Unit (MCU) and personnel with the Crime Scene Investigation Unit (CSI) responded to crime scene and the hospital to take charge of the investigation.

It is unclear at this time what transpired in the moments leading up to the shooting.

Police are not releasing the identity of the deceased man pending positive identification and notification of family members.
