Mark Davis, Denver Deputy, accused of abusing 12-year old; charges about 8-year old pending

The ugly news that Denver Deputy Sheriff Mark Davis had been arrested for investigation of sexual assault on a child has gotten uglier. He's been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault on a twelve-year old, with more counts promised today involving an eight-year old -- and authorities are on the look-out for more victims. CHARGES FILED AGAINST DEPUTY ACCUSED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A CHILD

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged a man [Thursday] with multiple counts of sexual assault on a child. Additional charges will be filed [Friday].

Mark Davis (dob: 10-26-51) is charged today with four counts of sexual assault on a child (F4), four counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust (F3), sexual assault on a child, pattern of abuse (F3), sexual assault on a child, position of trust and pattern of abuse (F3), one count of attempted sexual assault on a child (F5) and one count of attempted sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust (F4). The charges allege that between August 2002 and June 2006, Davis sexually assaulted a boy in his Denver home; the victim was 12 at the time the assaults began.

Davis will be charged tomorrow in a second case in which he will be charged with one count each of sexual assault on a child (F4) and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust (F3). These charges allege that between June 1, 2010 and September 27, 2010, Davis sexually assaulted an 8-year-old boy.

Davis remains in custody in the Jefferson County Jail; his bond is set at $200,000 in the first case, and $500,000 in the case that will be filed tomorrow. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Courtroom 2300 on Monday, October 11, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges filed today.
