Suspicious death of woman at 1931 N. Clinton in Aurora being investigated as homicide (No. 24)

In an October 8 press release, the Aurora Police Department described the discovery of a body at 1931 North Clinton Street as "suspicious." But there's been radio silence beyond that until this afternoon, when APD spokesman Detective Bob Friel confirmed that the case is being investigated as a homicide.

"We're not in a place where we can release her ID or other details," Friel adds. "We've still got some work to do on this -- still working to positively identify the victim."

According to the Aurora Sentinel, she may be a 24-year-old woman who recently moved to the area from East Denver with her boyfriend. But no confirmation on that yet.

Police Investigate Suspicious Death

Aurora, Colo. -- This afternoon, shortly before 3:30 p.m., Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 1900 block of N. Clinton Street on a report of welfare check.

Responding Officers and fire/rescue personnel arrived and entered a unit within the apartment building wherein they located a deceased woman. Officers secured the scene, contacted witnesses and requested assistance from investigators.

Major Crime Unit (MCU) detectives and personnel with the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit responded to the scene to take charge of the investigation. Detectives are in the process of conducting interviews, searching the crime scene for evidence, and tracking down early leads in the case.

The victim is not being identified at this time.
