Dixie Elixirs: Colorado medical marijuana soda company gets fizzy facelift

• Our new beverage company is basing its products on wellness and patient enjoyment. Our new superfood style beverages should be available in the Denver area soon. • Using Glycerine or alcohol bases for tinctures with cannabinoids is a terrible idea. Even alcohol has a negative impact on the THC, CBD and CBN compounds found in the cannabis plant. To my knowledge (with test results), Keef Cola and MarQaha are the only drinks on the market in Colorado that contain high levels of "ACTIVE" THC compounds (90+%). It seems this PR firm is well paid and constantly inundating the market; Dixie Elixir would better serve the patients of Colorado if it utilized its CORPORATE profits in a more productive way.... aka.... PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT!!! Flavors don't mean shit if it doesnt work!!!!!

• Not to mention the fact that every MIPS in the state is using glycerin in their tinctures instead of alcohol. Everyone is afraid that using alchol will involve the DEA or ATF but "traditional" apothecaries seem to have no problem.....primarily because they are trained pros who know what the hell they are doing. Glycerin is a TERRIBLE extraction media. When you combine a low-lipid media with a failure to properly ditch that pesky little carboxyl clinger, you've just spent a lot of time, energy and money to produce something with practicly nil for useful cannabinoid content. If you were one of those folks in organic chemistry class who complained that you would never use the curriculum in the real world, right now might be a good time to rethink that attitude.

• Yeah, companies using agave (which doesn't absorb cannabinoids well at all) for tinctures is just the tip of the iceberg, I'm afraid. There are almost no active cannabinoids in most of the edibles floating around the state right now, and that's the sad truth. Edibles that work are a great product for those who can't smoke (and those who want smooth, sustained relief), but trustworthy products seem few and far-between. Patients are better off making their own butter/oil for infusion using a basic crock pot method rather than buying most of the edibles on the market. The medicine being used in the edibles market is very sub-par, which is the underlying reason there's almost no potency... everyone throws their garbage crop that hermie'd or otherwise didn't turn out well into the edibles 'pile'... In recent tests of edible products form an unnamed manufacturer, none came back with any higher than 0.14 mg of ANY active cannabinoids (it was cannbichromene in this case), with the highest inactive being only 0.46 mg THC-A, none of which actually ended up being activated in the final product (<0.01%). If I were a patient looking for edibles, I'd insist on recently-tested batches of edibles before buying ANYTHING -- the few companies/retailers who are showing testing/THC content info are most often using test results that are months old, for a batch that could've been completely different in almost every way. In that case, those tests mean nothing to the current product you're preparing to buy, even if they showed lots of active cannabinoid content on that initial report. Only a handful of shops have a license to make their own edibles AND bother to have them tested, so the edibles market is largely a crapshoot for patients.

• I hate to say it but you're right, Spleen. IN MY OPINION, there are no reliable liquid products in the Denver area. We have tried every single product several times and none of them seem to contain the THC levels stated. Dixie Elixirs only claim to have 20 something milligrams of THC. The Keef Cola XXX claim to have 80 milligrams of THC, which would knock the average patient on their ass. My staff and various patients have tried them and felt virtually nothing after several hours. We eagerly await the day when a liquid product contains what the labels says!

• More than taste, the real question is efficacy! None of these bozos seem to understand the chemistry of cannabis -- there is a lot of unactivated THC-A in these products. That's why you can drink a soda or eat a cheesecake that claims it has a "gram of cannabis" in it and not feel a damn thing! By the way, this is also true for bubble hash -- it has not been decarboxylated abd is not fully activated unless specifically prepared. Bakked, Twirling Hippy/Dizzy Skank, Mangia Ganja -- none of these idiots really know what they fuck they are doing and would greatly benefit from a remedial high school chemistry course.

• They bought the brand, gutted it, are offering it dirt cheap and spending thousands on advertising. They're like the Microsoft of marijuana!
