Homicide by shot to the chest on 900 block of South Joliet Street in Aurora (No. 35)

Last night, Aurora Police report that an adult male was shot to death on the 900 block of South Joliet Street, continuing a very bloody period in metro Denver history. By our count, the homicide is at least the sixth since the beginning of November. Check our Mile High Murder archives for information about the previous five, and look below for more on this one.

Homicide Investigation
Aurora, Colo. -- On November 15, 2010 at about 8:10 PM, officers were called to the 900 block of South Joliet Street on the report of a shooting.

Responding officers located an adult male who was shot in the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead at approximately 8:40 PM this evening. His name is being withheld pending identification and notification of relatives.

Detectives from the Major Crime Unit (MCU) and personnel with the Crime Scene Investigation Unit (CSI) responded to crime scene to take charge of the investigation.

Preliminary indications are that there was an altercation at the front of the location between the male and an unknown suspect(s) resulting in a shot being fired, striking the male.

There are no anticipated updates prior to mid-day.
