Back in May, medical marijuana dispensary reviewer William Breathes admitted to having steered clear of The Clinic Alternative Medicine due in part to the stereotype that you can find anything on East Colfax -- but he wound up happy he stopped by. Lucky thing his visit didn't coincide with an armed robbery for which Myles Stephens has been arrested and another suspect is sought.

The Myles Stephens statement of probable cause produced in relation to the crime reports that late last month, assorted Denver Police Department officers hurried to the Clinic's 4625 E. Colfax address after receiving a robbery report at around 7:30 p.m. Also responding was the DPD chopper, Air-1, from which personnel reported that people were in back of the building, with one person running northbound through the alley.

One officer soon spotted a man wearing a ski mask over his face and an all-black wardrobe, plus white and black gloves, exiting the alley. A foot chase followed, with Stephens, 21, being apprehended a few blocks away.

Three Clinic employees subsequently told officers that they'd been heading out the back door after calling it a night when two men ordered them back into the dispensary at gunpoint. Fortunately, one of the staffers was wearing a panic button around her neck. One press alerted the cops, but not before the employees were taken to the basement of the facility and forced to open a safe, from which money and medical marijuana was removed.

Denver District Attorney's Office release:

MAN CHARGED IN MARIJUANA ROBBERY

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged a man today in connection with a kidnapping and robbery incident that occurred at a dispensary selling marijuana for medical purposes.

Myles Stephens (DOB: 03-11-89) is charged with three counts of first-degree kidnappingĀ (F2), three counts of aggravated robbery (F3), and three counts of first-degree burglary (F3).

The charges allege that on October 26, 2010, Stephens ambushed three people leaving a marijuana dispensary in the 4600 block of East Colfax Avenue, forced them back inside and stole cash and marijuana from them at gunpoint. Stephens was arrested a short time later after a brief foot pursuit. An additional suspect remains at large.

Stephens remains in custody in the Denver Detention Center; his bond is set at $100,000. He was scheduled to appear in Denver County Courtroom 2100 on November 3, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges.
