Readers: Pat Bowlen is a Denver Broncos hero -- and his memory issues aren't a joking matter

• Mr. Bowlen: So sorry to hear about your health problems. Please sell the team immediately to someone who actually wants to win. You ruined your legacy when you turned the team over to Coach McDoofis. Please sell the team as soon as possible. You are a hero no more because you let our pride slip away for no apparent reason. Please sell the team today. Please go back to the North Country and let us move on. Please sell the team. Sincerely, Bronco fans.

• The fact is that Pat Bowlen is NO different than Al Davis or Jerry Jones. Wait 10 years & we all can be proud of our very own Al Davis Clone. The only difference between the way Al Davis treated Shannahan and the way Bowlen did is that Bowlen paid Shannahan what he was due. Time will tell who the true genius was that brought coach McD-Bag to town.

• At this point, I've got to wonder who the Broncos management is trying to protect most: Bowlen or Ellis.

• Concur, Harold. Ellis, for his own reasons, pulled the lever in hiring the young pain in the ass. To answer the question "Who the hell is Ellis"?, google Joe Ellis Denver Broncos George Bush. Ellis wormed his way into the Denver Broncos family around '85 or so. Bowlen hired him ticket side, where he quickly knifed his way through people into marketing. His legendary ability to knife people in the back, snitch, and undercut came to full bloom back then when he slithered to the top of the team's marketing department. He left for "greener pastures" in the NFL front office management and was the architect in the league's push for newer, more "owner friendly" cash cow, 66% tax payer funded stadiums. He returned to Denver in '97 or '98, and immediately went about running the con that Bowlen would sell the team if he couldn't get a better deal via a new stadium, financed primarily by 6 front range Colorado Counties. Not only is Ellis the primary mover in bringing in McDaniels, but almost certainly in drafting the noodle armed Tebow in the first round. It's common knowledge the "season ticket waiting list" is now a myth, and given the demographic of the Denver area, primarily the more conservative, affluent Douglas/Arapahoe area, drafting the white, extreme right wing christian was mor pr than a football decision. The goofy move drafting Tebow did slow the mass exodus of season ticket holders for the immediate present, but the results of drafting him will be felt in the win/loss column AND the marketing department until McDaniels is fired, and he takes the young Tebow with him. It was Ellis' idea to subcontract out the new stadium's operations to a mercenary outfit as well. While security for the fans is now dreadfull, it's another case of Ellis externalizing expenses and internalizing profits.

• I agree Pat Bowlen is a Denver Hero as are Mike Shannahan, John Elway and Jay Cutler amongst others for not speacking out. I could not believe nor do I to this day, that Pat Bowlen selected Josh McDaniels to be the head coach of the Denver Broncos. I have been a loyal fan of the Bronco's since there founding and even more so when Pat Bowlen purchased the team. I have but one question, who the Hell is Joe Ellis? If in fact he was the controlling factor in firing Mike Shannahan and hiring Josh McDaniels, an insecure boy tyrant, who has from a public appearance sake, single handedly destroyed a good football team. Bronco ownership must exercise some managemant and rid itself of both Joe Ellis and the boy tyrant. I could never believe & still don't that Pat Bowlen hired Josh McDaniels.
