Zona's Tamales: Saalim Muhammed & Renee McKinnon plead guilty to theft by receiving

In September, 84-year-old Zona's Tamales namesake Zona Moore pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of theft by receiving. And now, her son, Saalim Muhammed, and a third person, Renee McKinnon, have done likewise in relation to charges about trafficking in cigarettes and other stolen goods. MAN AND WOMAN PLEAD GUILTY IN STOLEN GOODS CASE

A man and woman charged in connection with the buying and selling of stolen property earlier this year have pleaded guilty today.

Saalim Muhammed (aka Charles "Buck" Fields) (DOB: 08-13-41) and Renee McKinnon (08-25-60) each pleaded guilty to one count of theft by receiving (F4).

In June, Muhammed and McKinnon were accused of taking part in illegal activity at Zona's Tamales, which included the buying and selling of stolen property. Both are scheduled to be sentenced on January 3, 2011, at 8:30 a.m. in Denver District Courtroom 5G. The presumptive sentencing range for a class 4 felony is two to six years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.

Zona Moore, the owner of the tamale stand and mother of Saalim Muhammed, pleaded guilty earlier this year to theft by receiving (M2) and was sentenced to 90 days in the Denver County Jail, suspended pending successful completion of one year of probation with no further violations.
