• Clearly taxi driver working conditions were worst possible and imaginable, and driver safety was all but non-existant. Driver pay and seriously dangerous continuous long hours could be addressed legislatively. Drivers should become full employees of DRCOG in the Denver Metro area, and other governmental entities in other areas of the state and region. Cab companies would continue to collect fares and pay at least 2/3 of driver compensation in a partnership with governments, which they largely are already with the protectionist regulation and limitations on competition they enjoy. Monitoring, mentoring, and progressive discipline of drivers by inspectors and other methods would marked professionalize the current and future pool of drivers. Stricter regulation of driver circumstances (no more of those no shows and ditching of fares that are low paying or include minorities and others) and apppropriate compensation and benefits that are on a par with government employment would be a benefit for everyone, and create a safe and fair working conditions which are taken for granted by every one else employed throughout the labor pool everywhere. Customers and addresses would also be monitored and controlled for those who abuse the system by, among things, by calling multiple companies to create scrambles to get to them regardless of the price paid by those other drivers not there first, with apppropriate penalties and legal ramifications. Driver health and safety would be improved, as well as the lives of their families. (How many of you like to be in a cab where the driver has been on duty for over 12 hours that day and without a day off for weeks if not months ?). The current model is a failure and needs to be seriously and totally revised and changed. It can be done and it is desperately needed. We get what we pay for, and currently it is an amateur show worthy of being in a dive bar, the circus, and far, far worse.

• I was a hack for about three years a decade ago, and it was a brutal way to try to make a living. 80+ hour work weeks; often hours of inaction; no benefits; no insurance; being subjected to all kinds of weather; regular contact and interaction with the scum of the earth and other criminals; being robbed at gunpoint 3 times during my employment; people reeking of stench beyond all imagination; being robbed daily by the cab company; driving utterly unsafe vehicles that regularly broke down or died while in service; sick people,alcoholics, drunks, and drug addicts; an utter and total lack of respect by any and all peoples; being harassed by and dumped on by cops and courts, particularly in the greedy shameless Douglas County; people who barfed, urinated, and defacated in your vehicle and who left it to you to clean up after them; working four days for 12 hours daily with no pay before having to put in three 14 hour days to make ends meet; zero time for much of anything that was relaxing and free; being a prisoner in a tin can for hours, days, weeks, and months on end; and many, many, more wonderful things that cannot be included here due to limits on space. But getting sex and more well over two dozen times with stunning tipsy babes, often on long trips (imagine getting rode on long and hard by topless large breasted girls or women letting it totally loose while driving down Santa Fe and other highways in the dark for an extended period of time while trying to concentrate somewhat on the road and traffic with your veiw all but totally obstructed and little room to move in your seat), made all the mountains of horse manure worth it on a minimal of minimal levels. Yellow and Metro Cabs are legalized extortionists and criminal organizations legitimized and abetted by corrupt and immoral governments slackjaws and lackeys. May their continuing existence be of the upmost limited duration, preferably with their complete demise posthaste tomorrow.
