Director George Hickenlooper's death from a lethal combo of mixed drug use and sleep apnea just days before John Hickenlooper, his cousin and frequent subject, was elected Colorado's governor, shook the Starz Denver Film Festival, which screened George's new film, Casino Jack. Now, IndieWire is sharing his photo diary from the shoot, complete with his captions -- the last of which concludes, in now-poignant fashion, "Onward and upward. Hopefully."
