The election's been over for a month, but people on governor-elect John Hickenlooper's e-mail list got one last fundraising message today. Turns out Hick's campaign still owes $9,500 to small vendors and local businesses, and he's hoping to raise that much by midnight tonight. Look below for his pitch.

As I said during the campaign, the election was just the beginning. Now the real work of building more effective government, creating jobs, and strengthening our education system begins.

We need to begin a new effort, an effort to build a prosperous future for Colorado. But before we do that, I need your help to retire what's left of our campaign debt. We need to settle up with the local vendors and small businesses that all helped us get over the finish line with things like bumper stickers, t-shirts, and rally signs.

Can you pitch in $25 and help us raise the last $9,500 before MIDNIGHT?

It's been truly heartening to travel Colorado and see people coming together in the wake of a divisive election. Maybe it's because we don't have a bunch of attack ads on the air, but everywhere I go I meet people who are ready to roll up their sleeves, work together, and get our economy back on track.

Running a positive campaign was a big risk. Now more than ever I believe that was the right decision. I didn't attack my opponents or their supporters, and because of that, I'm working with people from across the political spectrum and having real conversations about our future. We may not see eye to eye on every issue, but we all know there's always common ground in Colorado and I'm doing everything I can to find it.

Our positive campaign was the right thing to do, but it was expensive. Can you help us retire the last $9,500 of our outstanding debt and contribute $25 before the MIDNIGHT deadline?

I am big believer that hard times come and go. With steady leadership, hard work, and the Colorado can do spirit, the possibilities for our people and our state are limitless.
