Yesterday's ruling by Virginia judge Henry Hudson voiding the health-care-bill requirement that citizens buy insurance may not mean much long-term according to this Washington Post piece, but it's certainly given opponents of what many conservatives call Obamacare an early Christmas present. Mike Kopp, minority leader in the Colorado Senate, was designated by fellow Republicans to crow about the decision. Here's what he had to say.

Colorado Senate GOP press release:

Senate Minority Leader Kopp's statement on health care ruling

[Yesterday], Senate Minority Leader Mike Kopp issued the following statement in regards to the ruling of District Judge Henry E. Hudson -- the requirement for people to purchase health care exceeds the power of Congress under the Constitution's Commerce.

"In March of this year Republicans in the Senate & House held a press conference calling into question the legality of the mandatory purchase of health insurance written in the federal health care law. [Yesterday's] ruling confirms our belief that the federal government was overreaching and acting outside of its powers defined in the Constitution. While this is just one victory in what will ultimately be a long fought battle, I believe we cannot overlook its significance."
