Statement Regarding Threat to Bennet Office

Adam Bozzi, Communications Director for Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, released the following statement regarding reported threats to Senator Bennet's Denver Office.

"We can confirm that there was a threat against Senator Bennet's office and that the FBI working with the Capitol Police have arrested the individual responsible for the threat. Per their advice, we are referring inquiries related to this matter to the Capitol Police. Michael has full confidence in the law enforcement agencies handling the case and remains focused on his job serving the people of Colorado."

According to the Washington Post item linked above, Davis, 44, is a frequent caller to Bennet's office due to complaints about his social security benefits. On Thursday, two days before the assault on Giffords, Davis reportedly told a staffer, "I'm just going to come down there and shoot you all." To another Bennet aide, he reportedly said, "To get your attention, I will go down there and set fire to the perimeter."

Such statements can't be dismissed as benign crazy talk, especially in light of Loughner's rampage.
