Shannon Johnson, 34, is due in court this morning in a case that's both incredibly tragic and a sign of the times.

In an arrest affidavit on view below in its entirety, Johnson tells police that she was fooling around on Facebook while her one-year-old child was drowning in a bathtub.

The incident took place in September. Johnson's arrest on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death was reportedly delayed while authorities in Fort Lupton waited for autopsy results. Examiners cited in the affidavit established the child's cause of death as "Anoxic brain injury, cardiac arrest and drowning."

According to the affidavit, Johnson told investigators that she fed the child, then put him in a bath between 8:35 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. She admitted that the "water level may have been a little higher than usual." Then she headed to her computer and played a game called Cafe World, checked a friend's status and shared some videos.

Johnson claimed that she could hear the child playing in the tub for about ten minutes -- but then three minutes of silence went by. At that point, she checked on the boy and found him "sideways with his face in the water."

When a detective asked her why she'd left the child alone in the bathtub, she admitted that it was "so stupid." But she "didn't want him to be known as a mama's boy."

No danger of that now.
