These airport scans are supposed to help protect feedom in America. In fact, they are another important step forwad in the nazification of our country. The guy is just anticipating the next change in the security regime at our nation's airports.

Notice that he is surrounded by TSA employees (well beyond arm's length, for fear of cooties) -- anyone crazy enough to strip down to his shorts in public in the Midwest might suddenly fling himself upon the nearest unsuspecting traveller!

P.S. I would like to know whether he was required to pass a psychological examination before being allowed to board his plane, or if he was permitted to fly at all. Who would want to sit next to someone who they knew had stripped to his shorts, revealing his torso and legs? Did he go on to do something wilder?

Would it be any different if he had been in his bathing suit? Or if he was a she? And I don't see the TSA employees "surrounding him". I see one standing by the sign waiting to let the next person to proceed and one on the other side of the machine. The person with the hat is a passenger (no shoes on).

I was being tongue-in-cheek! This is in the same vein as suggesting that Midwesterners seem to consider someone clad only in shorts (of any description) indecent.

I wasn't looking very closely at the person behind him -- that does spoil my over-freighted interpretation.
