Roseanne remembered the words to "The National Anthem," unlike Christina Aguilara

Well, at least when Roseanne sang "The National Anthem" and then grabbed her crotch, she got the words right -- unlike Christina Aguilera at the Super Bowl yesterday. Still, Roseanne's misguided homage to baseball-playing behavior back in 1990 earned her a spot on Time's list of the Top Ten Worst National Anthem Renditions, as well as enough YouTube notoriety to rate a cameo in a Super Bowl Snickers ad.

Roseanne was in town last month to tout her new book, Roseannearchy: Dispatches from the Nut Farm">Roseannearchy: Dispatches from the Nut Farm. Some of the nutty stories in that book date from the '70s and early '80s when she was a housewife living in a trailer in Commerce City with her then-husband, Bill Pentland, and just starting to break into stand-up comedy -- a quest that would land Rosanne her own show in 1988.

Her attempts to break into the pages of Westword with some humor pieces were not included. But we have an old Rolodex card that includes her name, old phone number, and this perspicacious notation: "Not funny."
