The Best Of... iPhone app is here and it's free, of course

Best Of app. Download here
Our Best of Denver issue (which hits newsstands on March 31) is sure to be a big, bulky thing, as it is every year. Unless you possess a European men's carry-all, it can be tough to tote around. Which is why we came up with the Best Of... iPhone app. It's free, it includes more than thirty cities (more on that below) and has the voice and local expertise you'd expect from Westword writers, as well from as feet-on-the-street writers across the land. (The Android app's coming in April!)

Here's where you download the app -- or you can search "Best Of..." under the app menu in the iTunes store.

If you don't have an iPhone, you can still access all the information online if you have a browser on your phone:

You can find Best Of locations near you with the GPS map feature. Plus, you can browse winners by category, search by business name or category name, as well as see what has won in other cities.

Here's a quick walk-through:

-- You can browse all winners in list-form, based on their proximity to your location if you're in "Near Me" mode...

-- You can also toggle into map-mode to find Best Of winners that are closest to you. You're the red push-pin, natch...

-- Heard about a popular bar in town and want to see if it's a Best Of winner? Here's how: Under the Browse Winners tab, just search by business name to see if it's included.

-- You can also search by category. I was thirsty when I did this test, so you'll see I was looking for all Best Of winners from 2010 that were related to beer.

And that's just a taste of what the app does. Naturally there is Facebook and Twitter integration, so you can share where you are, what you're drinking or whether you just added a Best Of winner to your to-do list.

So what are you waiting for? Download it for free here.

Here are the cities we have indexed so far (more on the way!):
Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston/Providence, Broward / Palm Beach, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas / Ft. Worth, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis / St. Paul, Nashville, New York, Orange County, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Raleigh / Durham, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco / Bay Area, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa Bay / St. Petersburg, Washington

I think most people would agree that defining yourself or others based on their choice in cell phones DOES make you a douchebag, Eric.

I was going to ask, "what about the Android app for those of us who are not douchebags," but you answered that in the post. Looking forward to it.
