Camille Jackson's death in Aurora apartment ruled a homicide, no cause announced (61)

Back on February 7, we told you about the death of Camille Jackson, a 21-year-old whose body was found in an Aurora apartment. Her baby was there, too, and still alive. At the time, the Aurora Police Department described the case as "suspicious." Just over a month later, the APD has announced that it's investigating the terrible incident as a homicide -- but no cause of death has been released.

Suspicious Death Ruled Homicide

Aurora, Colo. -- On February 5, 2011, Aurora Police responded to an apartment in the 15400 block of E 13th Ave where they discovered the body of Camille Jackson. Jackson's death was investigated as a suspicious death until it was recently ruled a homicide.

On February 5, 2011, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Aurora Police responded to an apartment on a welfare check that had been called in by a family member. Police initially received no answer at the door, but their investigation led them to find her car in the parking lot, leading them to believe Jackson was home. On a second attempt of contact, they could hear a baby crying inside. Due to exigent circumstances present, Officers forced entry into the residence. Once inside, Officers found Jackson's body and her infant who was in distress. The infant was checked out at a local hospital and was released to family members.

The Arapahoe County Coroner has since ruled Jackson's death a homicide. The cause of death is not being released at this time.

At this time, there have been no arrests in connection to this case.

Original item, 7:48 a.m. February 7: Aurora Police have characterized an incident that apparently took place in an Aurora apartment on the 15400 block of East 13th Avenue a "suspicious death."

And from the information filtering out thus far about reported victim Camille Jackson, age 21, that phrase certainly seems justified.

According to 9News, police went to the apartment in question, and when they heard the faint cry of an infant inside, they busted in to find the body of a woman a family member identified as Jackson.

Nothing yet on the cause of the woman's death -- but the baby was apparently unharmed and is now under the care of kin.
