Speed Candidating Mail-in Ballot6.jpg

Ballots for the 2011 General Municipal Election were mailed out to voters late last week. With nine candidates running for Denver mayor, voters will need to keep a "cheat sheet" handy. My Speed Candidating profiles cut through the political rhetoric to awaken the truth. Today, we set the alarm for James Mejia...

James Mejia Speed Candidating Denver Mayor Election 2011 Kenny Be Westword Blog.jpg

As seen above, the Speed Candidating profile for James Mejia condenses the essence of the man and his mayoral mission. This abbreviated version is best understood when read in a side-by-side comparison with Speed Candidating profiles of the other eight mayoral candidates.

To differentiate himself from the pack of nine other mayoral candidates, James Mejia has tried to get attention by conducting neighborhood "sleepovers." Using the concept of a one-night stand as a campaign gimmick is best understood knowing that Mejia is the sleeper in this race.

According to his Westword mayoral profile, Mejia has worked in nearly every city department during the past two administrations. According to his own website, he will be able to move Denver forward because he has the most executive experience, he is the most reasonable candidate and he is not Chris Romer.

If those qualities figure prominently in Denver's dreams, Mejia may be the slumbering giant who gets the voters' nod.
