Judgment Day is coming May 21: Downtown billboard guarantees it

Big pic below.
That gutter-cleaning job you've been putting off? Forget about it. That iPad you've been cautiously eying? Time to splurge, my friend. Why? Because we only have a mere seven weeks, just 47 more days, until Judgment Day. Swear to God. After all, a downtown billboard proclaims -- wait, guarantees it. Who needs more proof than that?

The billboard, one of those mini-me versions stuck in some guy's front yard on Delaware Street between 12th and 13th avenues downtown, proclaims in bold letters that Judgment Day is nigh -- nigh as in May 21. (It doesn't specify the year, but we're taking a stab and saying it's May 21, 2011.) And, like some cheesy infomercial, there's even a gold seal noting, "The Bible guarantees it." That's a relief. So, if we blow all our money on an RV with a hot tub on the roof and a pet albino shark so we can live out the last days of existence in style and the apocalypse doesn't come, we get our money back, right?

Also, according to the somewhat confusing billboard text, it appears Judgment Day will occur from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Maybe they should call it Judgment Happy Hour.

The helpful ad is the work of Family Radio, a non-profit Christian radio network run by a man named Harold Camping. Mr. Camping apparently spent five decades analyzing the Bible to come up with the May 21, 2011 date. It's unclear what, exactly, Camping's proof entails, but apparently it involves the establishment of Israel, the degradation of the Christian church and the rise of the gay pride movement.

Oh, and the fact that Camping made news a couple decades ago for proclaiming Judgment Day was coming in 1994? Disregard that, says his website. His calculations were off. This time, though, it's for realsies. After all, Camping finally has billboards.

So, there you have it. Apocalypse now -- actually not right now, but pretty darn soon. We just hope the owner of the billboard got Family Radio to pay upfront for the ad. Last we heard, the End of Days won't be the best time to send invoices.

First of all, if the world doesnt come to an end then all those who bought into this billboard need to admit that the Bible is full of crap....the billboard says "The bible guarantees it" so if it doesnt happen obviously the bible has some holes in it. Second if it doesnt happen then Family Radio should be shut down and they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent for making this false advertsing up.

It seems that there is another group on the scene with a new perspective in disputing Camping's prophesies. They make a compelling statement that "Jesus is here now." Check out a video about their billboard which I think will stir the pot a bit.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y14Yx...

I'm going to be so pissed if the world doesn't end on the 21st. I hate anti-climactic endings. It's like paying for a movie ticket to an over-hyped movie that really sucks.

I am very sad for those who have been following this liethat the rapture will occur on May 21st. Even if they attempt toexplain away “that no one will know the day or the hour of Christ return”, theycannot explain away that many scholars believe that Christians must go throughthe Great Tribulation prior to the rapture. I pray that they will take a momentand read my book Final Warning because the hour of is His judgment has come. http://www.revelation-truth.orghttp://www.revelation-truth.org

If these people really believe the end of the world will be May 21, then I want them to GIVE ME ALL THEIR WORLDY POSSESSIONS AND WEALTH on May 20. They won't be needing, right? If they say no then they are UNBELIEVERS.

Nothing is going to happen on May 21 because Family Radio is a cult and Harold Camping is a cult leader. He has completely cut himself off from the rest of Christianity and from any accountability for his teachings, leaving himself free to twist and spin the Bible to say anything he wants it to say, including setting an exact date for the Day of Judgment, which is directly forbidden by Jesus himself in Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32; he also warned Christians against false teachers in Mark 23:21-23.

Camping is deservedly being made fun of because even non-Christians and critics of the faith recognize the folly of his latest prediction given his terrible track record of claiming the Second Coming of Christ back in 1994 and that people could no longer be saved and converted after 1988, which was also the year he left the Alameda (CA) Christian Reformed Church after he was disciplined by the church for teaching his crazy date-setting in a popular Sunday School class.

Camping's cult teachings are easily refuted as shown in the following links:"Will the Rapture Happen on May 21?" (Immanuel First Lutheran Church, West Covina, CA)http://immanuelfirst.blogspot...."

Family Radio Alternative" (Redeemer Broadcasting, Olivebridge, NY)http://www.redeemerbroadcastin...

If anything, on May 22 former Family Radio listeners like myself will be practicing my faith and worshiping the Lord--at church. And many Christians will welcome back to the church current Family Radio listeners when they realize once again they have been hoodwinked, but on a grander and costlier scale.

Truth, delusion or not, was it necessary to write this article like a twelve year old girl with a poor atheistic attitude. Teasing and joking as if you hold some great superiority to a person who would stick his neck out so far as this man has. I too have been watching all the signs and troubles all over the world and I do not feel that nay of this is a joking matter.

Making such childish comments here is the same as making fun of the dead who lost their lives on 9/11 who moved out of their own comfort zone opposing the natural instincts and safety of life's many mysteries.

An apology for behaving like an unbridled spoiled child would not be enough to save face after reporting as you have here. The world is rightfully frightened right now. General animosity and near panic is at an all time high. Tens of thousands have already died in this season alone and your here joking about a time that has been predicted by every major religion and Historical writing on the planet spanning as many cultures in antiquity.

Take a deep breath and a long hard look in the mirror mam and write an apology!

well first of all the date and the hour are unknown. second of all to those who say it is exactly seven thousand years since noah saled the flood i hope you know that the calandar has changed countless times. years could vary in length by a hundred days. there is no way of knowing at any given point in the bible which calandar is being used. finally, who is to say what is a year to god. he created time and can do whatever he wants with it.

The reality is this. Harold Camping makes some big claims about May 21.

A great earthquake, all the graves will be thrown open, dead believers will be transformed into glorified bodies, unbelievers will be thrown on the ground in shame and the world of horror and chaos.

That’s pretty clear. He has not left himself any wiggle room. He emphasizes over and over on his site about “proofs” and “biblical authority” and “guarantees”. His description of that day is pretty clear. He’s not claiming that these things are metaphors, or symbolic. He says that they “will happen.” Period.

But mark my words: When nothing happens, and nothing out of the ordinary will, Harold Camping will pulls out another “Mea culpa” and claim that he got the date wrong (again), or that God changed his mind and is giving us more time, or that these things happened in the spiritual realm or some other nonsense. The reality is Harold Camping is a false teacher and is misleading thousands, if not tens of thousands, and is bring dishonor to the name of Christ

Therefore, if May 21 does not happen exactly as he claims, then Harold Camping is a false prophet and should be rejected. On May 21 we will find out what the truth is.

LOL. Humans have such wonderful imaginations! We can come up with wonderful stories all the time. It's just too bad when people live them out, people actually believe this stuff and start "making plans". Acting isn't just for fiction, "acting truthfully under imaginary circumstances" happens all the time. Look forward to seeing the excuse coming May 22nd.

End Times

The child of God has learned from the Bible that the language of Genesis 7 has a twofold meaning:

Genesis 7:4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

Historically, as God spoke these words, there were seven days remaining for Noah, his family, and the animals to get into the safety of the ark; but spiritually (and the Bible is a spiritual book), God was speaking to all of the people of the world and was declaring that sinful mankind would have 7000 years to find refuge in the salvation provided by Jesus Christ. How can we know that? We know this is so based on what we read in 2 Peter, chapter 3:

2 Peter 3:6-8 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The context of 2 Peter 3 is extremely important! In the first few verses, God refers us to the destruction of the world by the flood during Noah’s day. Then we find an interesting admonition that we ought not to be “ignorant” of one thing, which is, 1 day is as 1000 years, and 1000 years is as 1 day. Immediately following this bit of information is a very vivid description of the end of the present world by fire.

Camping has grains of Biblical truth mixed with lies. In the end it doesn't matter when the world ends or if people go to hell or not. What matters is faith in Jesus Christ. End of story...

9/11 is a real event that happend where people lost their lives.

5/21 is an event that won't happen. It's a prediction by a man who's teaching is laughable. And, on 5/22 when we realize that nothing happend, he should be rejected by all "true believers".

This is the main problem. Harold Camping is a big numbers guy...even his profession was based on a slide rule. This is where the "teachers of the law" and the pharisees kept messing up. They went to the "paint stroke" instead of the painting and the painter.

I thank God for anyone who will preach the truth of the fact that everyone will have a "last day"...this is so dangerous, but many "cults" are closed to hearing the Word of God once they think they have "found the truth in the Scriptures".

They rejected THE Christ because they thought they "knew" what the Messiah would be like and ended up "killing" the Son of Man.

Be careful...I pray God will reveal His Truth in His Word.

Simon the Sorcerer thought he was right...the apostles thought circumcision was right for a believer...just step back a seek God to show you...

keep sharing the Gospel...that should not stop...that was clear...be careful at what man can be misled by.

God Bless you...

Good question. My educated guess is that on May 23 during his "Open Forum" call-in talk show, Harold Camping will say that just as God spared the people of Nineveh from destruction (in the Old Testament book of Jonah, the guy swallowed by a whale), He has once again spared judgment on May 21 because enough people believed Family Radio's message of leaving all churches and following Harold Camping instead, and as a result God had pity on us all and changed His mind.Camping will once again cover his tracks by blaming God on not giving him enough "new revelation" beforehand to discover this latest twist. And then the lawsuits from angry and despondent listeners will start filling the courts.

No one knows the day and the hour, not even the angels in the heaven (Matthew 24:36 ). He comes like a thief in the night (1 Thes 5:2). Therefore you also be ready for Jesus is coming at the hour you dont expect (matthew 24:44). Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you will be saved, thats it. Do not be misled.

May 21st or not...It's not about the date but that there will be a Day. Any of us may die today. For those of you who own a Bible or not...here are some scriptures that may help in all of this billboard "stuff".

Take it how you want...I didn't write this. Not even Stephen King could right anything like this...except he has written stuff "based patially" on evil, of course.

Have a great Easter/Resurrection Day. www.needGod.com

Rev 20:10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Rev 21: 6And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

2 Timothy 3 1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

11Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

well melissa thats not true at all, if you sin, your a slave to sin. is not a drug addict a slave to drugs? by saying you have no vice in your life, whether it be gambling, drinking, ect.. are you saying your perfect? that you are perfectly free, that your no slave because your perfect. well, i got a hit for you, your not perfect, no one is. and everyone has a vice, and you are a slave to it. in fact, no one will ever be truely free, until they repent of their sins and turn away from them. and the only way for that is through Jesus Christ. forget all this may 21st nonsense, those are lies, what i just said to you now is truth. and now that i have to told you, everyone who reads this will no longer have any excuse when they are judged when they pass on. because i have told you. i wish you all the best, no matter what.

NO ONE KNOWS!!

No one knows if they will be alive tomorrow. But tomorrow they will know if they are still alive.

"No one knows" is present tense, not future tense. At the time of the writing "No one knew".

We were told knowledge would be given at the time of the end.That is now.NOW, we know ;;;;

Dan. 12:

4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book,[even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Revelation 22:10 Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near.

"Isaiah 29:18 In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see.

I was blind, but now I see. How much clearer could it be??

Seriously people. Those "visions" are no different than the tales of Zeus and Pan and Demeter and Athena and Beowulf. They are the fanciful stories of inventive creative types.

People are imaginative- a good story helps you sort out your fears, dreams, hopes and the crap you just don't won't to face dead on, either because its too frightening or too boring to contemplate as it truly is.

Here's the truth: People die. It's natural and unavoidable, no matter how special you think you are. People live and then they die and its each person's responsibility to live their life as they see fit, hopefully acting with some idea of what the consequences of those choices will be.

Spouting random tripe like a sanctimonious jerkwad doesn't advance the cause of humankind.

And quoting scripture is not enlightenment.

I think you may be not realize that when Noah spent 100 years he preached righteousness and when the rain began the door on the ark had been shut for 7 days already. Noah didn't know the day the ark would shut and neither did he know when the rain would start and/or stop.

Preach righteousness.

"Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand." don't stop. But if you are wrong about the day...then not only will you and many others "fall away" because you have gone after strange/false doctrine. You will "unknowingly" help scoffers believe that the Bible is wrong when this May 21st date is a contrived end/judgement Day.

Matthew 7:21"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man...

(why would God allow someone to continue in sin for 100 years and then a month and a half out really push by billboards and tell everyone that the "thief" is scheduled to come on May 21st?)

Be careful NOT to hang your faith on this date...God may require you or anyone else before today is over.

Don't miss the point of what the Bible teaches about being Born of the Spirit of God-Born Again-Old thing passed away behold all things are become new-New creature/creation in Christ-We have all broken God's commandments...lying, theft, blasphemy, etc...We will be found guilty on that day...if God judges us we would be guilty of breaking His Laws/Commandments...the righteous punishment from God is Hell which will be thrown into the Lake of Fire and eternal torment with Satan, the False Prophet, and the "Beast".

God commands all men(people) everywhere to repent and turn/trust in what God did through Christ Jesus when He took the punishment for you/my sins. The wrath of God was poured out on Jesus/Yeshua.

God took the punishment so we would not have to. If you choose to take your own punishment then you have trampled the sacrifice of Christ Jesus as nothing.

Do not put it off until tomorrow nor follow a man's unbiblical understanding...he is no different then a TV preacher claiming God said to send $50 before midnight. These things are here to deceive.

This is NOT Biblical Christianity...it is man who has read into the scriptures...not a man who has read the scriptures as they were revealed to those whom God inspired as God wanted them written.

Is Harold Camping bad? NO, but if this does NOT happen on May 21st...will many fall away Harold...I know I know...not the elect...

...BUT woe to that man that causes even a little one to fall away.

Just be careful of what your focus is...Salvation through Jesus Christ or watch for a date.
