Michael Hancock wears Webb's shoes in Denver mayor's race: Kenny Be's Speed Candidating

Speed Candidating Mail-in Ballot3.jpg

Ballots for the 2011 General Municipal Election were mailed out to voters late last week. With ten nine candidates running for Denver mayor, voters will need to keep a "cheat sheet" handy. My Speed Candidating profiles cut through the political rhetoric to help voters pick the least objectionable candidate. As seen above, the Speed Candidating profile for Michel Hancock condenses the essence of the man and his mayoral mission. This abbreviated version is best understood when read in a side-by-side comparison with Speed Candidating profiles of the other eight mayoral candidates.

Last week, former mayor Wellington Webb held a "passing of the sneakers" ceremony for Michael Hancock at Crescent Park in Lowry. The symbolic gesture was meant to be a reminder of Webb's campaign history, if not a warning about the costly missteps of a runaway administration.

But Michael Hancock will not be able to completely follow in Webb's footsteps. These are much different times and Hancock will have to run his own race if he wants to show voters what he means when he says, "we are all Denver."

Hancock is about as impressive as Boigon -- not at all. Here is yet one more black politician willing to feed his own constituents to the wolves. If Michael Hancock has a cannabis catharsis and makes the runoff, I'll consider him. If Denver makes a prohibitionist Mayor after voting for cannabis over and over again, it will have a bad hangover.
