THC driving limits: William Breathes is still waiting....

Breathes.Blood.JPG
After a week, I finally got the results from my blood test last Friday -- and unfortunately, the lab didn't give me the information I'd asked for. Fortunately, the state senate's judiciary committee just pushed back discussion of HB1261, also known as the marijuana DUI bill, by a week.

According to the Cannabis Therapy Institute, the hearing has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 18, at the State Capitol. That gives patients another week to contact their senators, the CTI reminds us.

The delay also gives me more time to get the answers I originally requested. Instead of getting a read on how much active THC I had in my system, the test gave my overall THC numbers. Since THC can stay in the body for more than thirty days, it wasn't surprising that my sober level was still sky-high at 859 nanograms per milliliter, and spiked at 1,335 nanograms per milliliter after some major puffing. Both results are interesting, but neither tells me anything about how much THC was -- or wasn't -- still affecting me. Or what HB's proposed limit of 5 nanograms per milliliter of active THC might mean for patients.

The tech at Any Lab Test Now said that she would contact the testing lab that actually ran my blood to see if she could get more detailed results. If not, I'm going to find another lab that will. Either way, I'm again playing a waiting game.

At least I have my freedom while I wait it out. According to Colorado State Patrol spokeswoman Heather Cobler, if this bill passes, people suspected of a marijuana DUI might have to sit in jail for as long as 21 days waiting on test results if they are unable to bond out. Here's how those tests would work, she says: Anyone suspected of driving under the influence of marijuana would have his blood drawn by a licensed phlebotomist -- either an EMT on staff at a local firehouse, or at a local medical center, depending on the municipality. After that, under the law, a cop would have seven days to get the blood to a lab -- and then the lab would have another fifteen days to get the results back to the police and the suspect.

Given that, waiting a few more days for my real results doesn't seem so bad...

As soon as we get a final answer on William's results, we'll post an update.

I certainly am against the idea of intoxicated people operating motor vehicles. That being said, pickup the Physicians Desk Reference (PDR) and examine how many common over the counter and prescribed medications cause drowsiness. Were is the public outcry for Benadryl testing! Unfortunately, we are still living in a society where stigma and dogmatic ridicule rule the day.

Damn dude, that last main paragraph made my heart stop and took my breath away.

This is insane.

Freedom is not what I was told it was when growing up. Bob Ross could not have painted a more docile image of what we are supposed to believe is freedom and how to react to it being taken away.

Hmm, the results are extremely late, not what you paid for, the hearing is postponed for a week. No funny business going on here.......

Benadryl testing: don't give folks any ideas. Thanks for the post, Douglas.

Any Lab Test Now
Any Lab Test Now

Will received the results he asked for. He called our lab and asked for blood marijuana levels. thTsvit exactly what he received. He was also told te results take at least 5 business days. He received the results in exactly 5 business days. Unfortunately, Will was not clear on what he was looking for those test results to say. Had he spent the time speaking with our lab tech BEFORE asking for the test, we could have determined before and not after, what test he needed. He called our lab and asked for a specific test, that was the test that was done. Unfortunately, it was not the test he needed for this experiment.

I am deeply disturbed that Will has posted such negativity about Any Lab Test Now... We did exactly what he requested (although it was not what he thought he needs) and the results were delivered in exactly the tIme frame promised. We went above and beyond trying to assist him after the fact. His statement that "the lab tech had no idea what he was talking about" is also false. Once he called after receiving the results, he said he needed "active vs non-active" since that is not the medical terminology, it took a few minutes For her to figure out that he was talking about THC vs Metabolites. His own words "I spent over 30 minutes trying to explain what I needed to a quest lab tech"....had he given us the same courtesy prior to ordering blood work, this would not be an issue.

Any Lab Test Now is a facility where any one can go and have any type of blood work done with out a doctors order...STD panels, wellness panels, allergy panels, drug tests, etc. with results direct to our customers. We have no reason to hold up any results for any reason. Especially something as important as this.

again, I think the odds are that it has more to do with incompetency than any huge conspiracy to bring down the alt-weekly pot critic's story.

though, it would be cool to think i'm that big of a deal....

Benadryl will give you a serious case of couch-lock and cottonmouth.

And have you been to a pharmacy and seen the "patients" who are buying this "medicine?" Scruffy twenty year old males, every last one of them.

Thanks mom but just once could you tell me you love me, it would make my day.

I'm not suggesting there's a conspiracy to bring down your story, but I am saying that someone does not want the results to become any part of the delayed "hearing" which falls on deaf ears anyway. The mere fact that the lab lists 50ng as the cutoff between user and non user suggests that the 5ng limit is ludacris, and any further supporting results are further detrimental to the sanity of the proposed law. All it takes is one "holier than thou" anti MMJ crusader in a position of power to "perdsude" someone to delay the results that you didn't ask for in the first place. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I certainly hope they don't charge you for something you didn't ask for,

the whole thing is based on ignorance and intolerance. if it werent they would have had more toxicologists and scientific numbers tossed into the mix and waited to make a decision instead of going off an uneducated quick draw politicians idea of "safety". even she doesnt believe what she put down as a law anymore. if this passes its going to receive a ton of kickback from not only our community but the general public. wait till people who are tired or worked their ass off all day and look a lil red eyed get pulled over... fair is not part of the plan.

I don't know if Jesus would like that Timma. Maybe instead of running a train on my mom you guys could all pray together?
