Tesla Motors moves from Boulder's Pearl Street showroom to Park Meadows

Big pics below.
Back in 2009, we reported about the impending opening of a Tesla Motors outlet in Boulder, just in time for local shoppers to get a reported $42,000 tax credit for buying one of the sleek electric cars. Thank you, America! But less than two years later, the outlet -- which wound up in an odd location on Pearl Street, a block north of the main pedestrian mall -- has pulled up stakes in favor of new digs at Park Meadows.

Tesla's website makes the new Park Meadows location, at 8401 Park Meadows Center Drive Space # 1060, look more like an art installation than an auto dealership. But it's likely to get more foot traffic than did the Boulder shop -- a prime reason for the move, according to the Boulder Daily Camera article linked above. Besides, those who walk past it now may be likelier to purchase a pricey Roadster, which typically sell for north of $100,000, than might folks getting balloon animals for their tots while strolling Pearl Street.

Here's a look at the Park Meadows branch, which opened Saturday.

In addition to having balloon animal-makers on the mall, some of the best restaurants in the state are located within a few blocks of Tesla's old Boulder showroom!   The "odd location" is downtown Boulder's West End district which is home to Salt, West End Tavern, Jax Fish House, Urban Outfitters, The Kitchen,  Piece, Love & Chocolate,  OZO Coffee, Trident Cafe...the list goes on an on! http://boulderdowntown.com/

Nothing like exaggeration - the tax credit for an electric vehicle is $7,500,  not the $42,000quoted. That would be for a group of five.

I don't get it. Is there anyone outside of the People's Republic of Boulder who would actually be interested in buying an electric car? And would they want to head to the belly of the beast (Highlands Ranch - more specifically a shopping mall in Highlands Ranch) to buy one?
