At the UMS on Saturday
The Underground Music Showcase took over South Broadway Thursday through Sunday night with bands, DJ's, singer-songwriters and MC's performing at venues from afternoon through the night. As you can see from our slideshow page, we shot the Faces of UMS on Friday and the People of UMS on Saturday.

On Friday night, writer Julie Maas attended Dave Foley's stand-up show at Comedy Works, where he swore he wasn't gay.

On Saturday morning, the It Burns Joe fitness group, led by Joe Hendricks, took over Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

On Saturday, music writer Tom Murphy traveled from venue to venue at the UMS, and he brings back this travelogue: "UMS Travelogue: Mercuria and the Gem Stars, Zebroids, Bad Luck City, PiƱa Chulada and more."

On Sunday, more than a thousand bicyclists took part in the annual New Belgium Urban Assault ride, the scavenger hunt through Denver.

So what's going on this week? Check the Westword calendar for details.

Isn't this show called The Denver Post Underground Music Showcase? I guess that slipped your mind, huh, Nick? Keep it classy, Westword.
