Reader: Abstinence training is needed when youth see women as sex idols, men as pimps

• You gotta be kidding me! Does anybody actually believe this crap? Honestly? How tough is it to remember back to high school, and the simple, undeniable fact that young people of opposite sex will be attracted to each other, and they will act on those attractions 100% of the time? Should you be under the illusion that the WAIT people don't fully well know that, then your naivete is showing. The abstinence con has grown from a rather small, inconsequential cottage industry back in the early days of the Bush2 administration to a virtual tax exempt/tax money revenue streaming monster. The vast majority of these mostly right wing conservative zealots vote republican, steer republican and influence their peers toward conservative candidates. The "abstinence" gig is a great way to further repub messages and is in effect a republican GOTV tool. The pot 'o gold at the end of the rainbow for people in this industry is a very wealthy lifestyle, opportunities to move up in the republican machine, and potential to make even more. On the taxpayer. Tell me the republicans don't know how to work the system.  8.2 million in Federal funds. Overhead? No more than the "WAIT entrepreneurs want. Expenses? Non existent, save for the old "cost of living", "travel", "family expenses" and "incidentals". Talk about abusing the taxpayer! The alternative? Protection. Teaching kids that are, in vast majority, going to have sex as soon as possible, that under no circumstances should they engage in sexual activity without protection. Condoms. Birth control. But, then again, where's the payday in that? Or the phony "holier than thou"  subliminal message most conservatives wallow in.,

• So poster seriously wins comment of the day by throwing together logical fallacy after logical fallacy with a few lies to boot?  Let's break this down:  "When our youth see women as sex idols, men as pimps" -Argument by assertion. "and sex is ok anywhere, anyhow with whoever" -Strawman.  "Where are the standards of being in a committed relationship to enjoy the benefits of sex" -Red Herring "So why is it ok that our 10-12 year olds are having children, committing suicide and raping each other?" Assertion as to the acts being on any rise, strawman that anyone thinks it's OK, appeal to emotion. "What happened to pretend play and personal boundaries?" - Red herring, argument by assertion, and quite likely just a bald faced lie. " Today a young girl can be with a different partner every weekend and thats cool " Argument by assertion, strawman.  Who says "that's cool"? Geez, Michael.  Can I just randomly barf up "what about the children" to win CotD?
