Denver water tastes like home

• Diane: I bow to any other corrections you'd like to make, but I'll stand by my father and his father, both of whom were the presidents of Glencoe: It's Glencoe, not Village of Glencoe, to everyone who lives there, as well as all map-makers.

• "Maybe you should have checked out a book on grammar and punctuation at that library." Try any one of these instead:   "Maybe you should have checked out a book about grammar and punctuation from the library."  "Maybe you should have (referred to) (read) (looked at) a book about grammar and punctuation at the library." And you forgot your semicolon after "decades ago". I will say to you what my railroad engineer grandfather said to me decades ago; "Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes...then when you criticize him or her, you'll be a mile away with their shoes."

• Water comes out of water fountains in Glencoe -- that's a great idea!  Denver should place public water fountains in parks, outside of libraries, and wherever else people are thirsty -- a great city has water fountains (and sidewalks).

• What is this punctuation, and isn't "ultimate" redundant and "apparently" unnecessary? An eighth-grader would get a D on this sentence, Patty. Maybe you should have checked out a book on grammar and punctuation at that library.  The name of the place is actually the Village of Glencoe, not Glencoe on first reference. I won't quibble with "tiny," even though the Village of Glencoe is bigger than Lamar and has more population density than Aurora, because maybe you meant tiny in land mass. It's roughly the population of Greenwood Village, or as you would call it, Greenwood. I will say to you what my railroad engineer father said to me decades ago. "Slow down, get it right the first time." Having the hometown advantage apparently wasn't enough to lift Denver over tiny Glencoe, much less move ahead of the ultimate winner; Greenville, South Carolina.
