An October 30 house fire claimed the lives of two young children -- Alvira and Timothy Ramirez, ages two and three, respectively. Now, the Aurora Police has busted their mom, Danielle Lynn Brockman, on suspicion of child abuse/negligence resulting in death.

The reason: The kids had reportedly been left home alone.

Shortly after 5 a.m. this past Sunday, according to the Aurora Police Department, officers and firefighters were called to a house fire on the 12600 block of East 13th Avenue. A woman outside (reportedly a hysterical Brockman) told them two kids were inside -- but getting into the building was made difficult by the heat and smoke, as well as security bars on the windows. Officers ultimately had to remove the bars before they could gain entry.

By low-crawling through the house, they managed to find Alvira and Timothy. But Timothy soon succumbed to his injuries, and Alvira was pronounced dead at around 1 a.m. on November 1. In addition, three officers were treated for smoke inhalation and exposure.

Early on, police began investigating Brockman -- and while the arrest report and other documents have been sealed, 7News has learned that cops had made a number of previous calls to the home related to Brockman and the kids.

As evidence began to mount, Brockman vanished, prompting the involvement of the Aurora PD's Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team, whose acronym, FAST, turned out to be appropriate in this instance. Team members located her yesterday evening -- in a vehicle traveling near Interstate 25 and Highway 7.

She's not going anywhere now. Her bond was set at $500,000.
