Not only is Steadman a sell-out and tool of the Big $$ Dispensary Lobby, but so are most -- if not all -- of the marijuana attorneys and marijuana law firms who now represent the better paying for-profit big $$ dispensaries ... to the direct detriment, harm and conflict of their individual patient/caregiver clients. Boycott any Law Firms that represent the Big $$ Dispensaries, they are not your friends. Boycott the optional CDPHE "red card" registry. Amendment 20 does not require the registration of a Physician Referral to be protected -- the physician referral by itself is all that is required. .

• Senator Steadman sold out the patients with his support of 1284,and then sold out the caregivers with the caregiver registry requirement in 1043. If you are a husband trying to take care of your sick wife, why do you have to go through a background check and register with the DOR? The Constitution says nothing about this, but Sen. Steadman supported it all the way through as a concession to the greedy dispensary owners who wanted the "caregiver problem" taken care of. Steadman is a disgrace, and so is any organization that gives him any support.

"Steadman has been working with MMAPA founder Vincent Palazotto on a proposal that would earmark a portion of the medical marijuana patient registry fees for research and education, as well as to create a call center for patients in need of social services", but Colorado's Constitution (Article XVIII, Section 14 (3) (i)) states:  "The state health agency may determine and levy reasonable fees to pay for any direct or indirect administrative costs associated with its role in this program" and C.R.S. 25-1.5-106 states:  "(3) (a) The medical marijuana program cash fund shall be subject to annual appropriation by the general assembly to the department for the purpose of establishing, operating, and maintaining the medical marijuana program established by section 14 of article XVIII of the state constitution. All moneys credited to the medical marijuana program cash fund and all interest derived from the deposit of such moneys that are not expended during the fiscal year shall be retained in the fund for future use and shall not be credited or transferred to the general fund or any other fund" -- in case it is not abundantly plain, research, education, and call centers cannot reasonably be construed to be either direct or indirect administrative costs of the program (the purpose of the program being simply the registration of patients whose doctors have recommended their use of cannabis). At the last meeting of the BOH, I called upon the Board to direct the CDPHE to refund the approximately eight million dollars ($8,000,000) now in the fund to the patients who have been being grossly overcharged.  What has not already been stolen by the General Assembly or wasted by the Department should rightfully be returned to those from whom it was exacted (the stolen funds should be too).  Steadman and Palazotto have no right to propose any other use for monies in "the medical marijuana program cash fund" than what the Constitution and C.R.S. specify, and the accumulation of a surplus of millions of dollars (due to the CDPHE's incompetence and the impunity with which it has been allowed to operate) demands immediate redress to the patients the State has been gouging for a decade in the form of appropriate refunds.  Will no one sue for the return of the enormous, ill-gotten surplus?
