Rod "Blago" Blagojevich, shmuck -- for trying to work the prison system like he did politics

Rod Blagojevich, the disgraced former Illinois Governor who's headed to prison for trying to broker a political deal, is now trying to broker another. Blago, who was sentenced to fourteen years in the clink for trying to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama (among other forms of corruption), would like to do his time in Colorado's dry and sunny climes at the FCI Englewood prison.

Why? According to news reports, he has a drinking problem -- a bad one -- and wants to be placed in a drug abuse program.

Hmmm. Either that or he has heard that the low-security, country-club prison was rated by Forbes magazine as one of the best places to serve time -- and prisoners who successfully complete substance abuse programs are often kept away from the general population and can sometimes be eligible for reduced prison time.

But Blago would never try to work the system, would he? After all, the man who was convicted of eighteen counts of corruption, including charges that he lied to the FBI and was involved in hospital, political and racetrack shakedowns, is an upstanding fellow.
