Reader: Juvenile lifers who are abused in prison get what they deserve

In a recent post, Alan Prendergast dug into a study that documented horrific prison conditions for juvenile lifers. But the tales of rape by stalkers known as canines and protective isolation that can create additional problems didn't produce much sympathy among some readers -- like, for instance, this one.

Young violent predators being preyed on by older predators... cry me a river... maybe we should spare them all that pain and suffering and just execute them. Problem solved. The merciless are not worthy of being shown mercy. Like they showed their victims? This isn't tragic, its KARMA.

Michael, something is terribly wrong at Westword when you highlight a post by an anonymous psychopath as your Comment of the Day!

The Denver Post is where I expect to see such uncivilized and anti-social ravings. If you continue to welcome in the Post's loyal cadre of relentless psychotic wingnut posters, you will dismay those of us who do not care to exchange views with people who support State-sanctioned murder and rape as a means of social control. Perhaps we should change the words we use for jail, instead of being a "rehabilitation center" perhaps we should call them "punishment cages" since, honestly, that's all that people seem to be interested in having prisoners receive in the first place.

They aren't places for people to slowly become reintegrated back into society, they're zones where we place people with the hopes of forgetting about them like the rest of their world already has.
